Scott I. Wittchow

Scott I.
Wittchow, 67, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at
Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.


He was born
on February 8, 1951, in Fond du Lac, the son of Irvin W. and Fern
Bluemke-Wittchow.  Scott grew up in the
Rosendale area.  He graduated from
Rosendale High School, Class of 1969.  He
attended school at UW-Fond du Lac where he played on a championship basketball
team and then earned a degree in Journalism at UW-Oshkosh. On August 30, 1991,
he married Gretchen E. Gall at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale.


Scott was an
active member of Peace Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis, HF&D
Hunting Club and served on UW-Fond du Lac Foundation, Fond du Lac Area
Foundation Board, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Leadership Fond du Lac Board, and
the American Red Cross Chapter.


Scott was known as a “gentle giant” with his big heart and
caring ways.  Along with the many
organizations he was involved with, in 2000 Scott became a bone marrow donor to
a woman from Great Britain who was fighting a third round of cancer.  His donation extended her life another 10
years before the cancer returned and took her life.


He enjoyed
being outdoors, traveling, gardening, attending concerts, reading, hunting,
fishing and watching Packer, Brewer and Badger games; especially attending
these events with his good friends.


He is
survived by his wife Gretchen Gall of Fond du Lac; his daughters:  Amanda Wittchow of Brandon and Cara Wittchow
of Reedsburg; his grandson, Matthew (Mackenzie) Zorn of Waupun; his mother,
Fern Wittchow of Rosendale; his siblings: 
Dennis (Jean) Wittchow of Modesto, CA, Jeffrey (Alice) Wittchow of
Rosendale, Kristi (Kenneth) Basler of Eldorado; sister-in-law Marlene Wittchow
of Eldorado.


He is
preceded in death by his father, Irvin, his brother, Terry, his sister,
Candice.


VISITATION:  Friends may call on Saturday, February 24,
2018 from 9:00-12:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 124 South Main Street,
Rosendale.


FUNERAL:  A celebration of Life will be held on
Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, with Rev.
Charles Thompson officiating.  Private
family burial will follow in Rosendale Cemetery.


In lieu of
flowers, memorials are appreciated for UW-Fond du Lac Foundation, Peace Lutheran
Church or Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
