Sharon A. Kimmel

Sharron Ann Kimmel, 64, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021, at her home in Fond du Lac. She was born in Fond du Lac on May 20, 1957, the first child of Bill and Kathleen (Jugenheimer) Casper. Sharron graduated with honors in 1975 from L.P. Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac. When she was 25, Sharron packed up her baby girl Christina, her Barry Manilow albums, and a cat, and set out by car from Fond du Lac to Modesto, Calif. as her destination to reunite with her future husband, Mark. Sharron and Mark were married in Livermore, Calif. on January 29, 1983.

It was in Modesto where Sharron raised and nurtured her family which grew by one with the birth of a second daughter Lauren in 1991. Sharron had a multitude of friends, but cherished most her “coffee ladies,’ clutch who would get together often to talk, laugh, gossip, and solve the world’s problems. Over the years there were a pair of Shih Tzu’s, a Pug, a Norwegian Elk Hound, and many more cats who were also lucky enough to inhabit the Kimmel home.

Though Sharron had a fondness for the Milwaukee Brewers, she became a diehard San Francisco Giants fan. She volunteered at the Modesto Police Department and worked at the church library. Sharron gardened, developing a special love of yellow roses, carnations, and orchids, but her favorite hobby and real passion was creating masterpieces from skeins of yarn. She was a maestro with her crochet hook.

After 37 years, and Mark’s retirement, Sharron insisted the family move back home to Fond du Lac, and they did just that settling into a home on the lake where nightly sunsets became a ritual. She enjoyed being close to her parents, brothers Michael and Nicholas, and sister Barb. Both of Sharron’s daughter’s and son-in-law Ryan eventually migrated to Fond du Lac and much to her delight, Sharron again had her brood all within minutes of her. Three years ago, Lauren and Ryan welcomed Cordelia Paige into the world, and she became a doting grandmother. Cordelia, grandma, and Aunt Chrissy were nearly inseparable.

Sharron got busy crocheting another baby blanket when word came that Lauren and Ryan were soon going to have another daughter, Audra Delphine. Sadly, with the blanket near completion, Sharron passed away on the morning of July 5th. It was only four hours later that Audra Delphine came into the world.

Survivors include her husband, Mark; daughters, Chrissy, and Lauren (Ryan); granddaughters, Cordelia Paige and Audra Delphine; brothers, Michael and Nicholas; and her sister, Barb.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Michael Hackbarth officiating. Burial in St. Charles Cemetery will follow the service.

We, as mere mortals, selfishly believe Sharron was taken far too soon, but deep down we also know the good Lord certainly must have needed another smile that lit up any room she entered, and now any corner of Heaven, and a soul that was filled with kindness and benevolence.

Sharron fiercely loved her family and would do anything for them. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, wonderful daughter, and brilliant sister, and she is greatly missed.
