Sharon J. Karls

Sharon J. Karls, 76, of Malone, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Villa Loretto nursing home in Mt. Calvary after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born in Fond du Lac on July 30, 1945, to Roy and Charlotte (Gray) Luedtke. On September 12, 1964, Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Bernard Karls in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2017.

Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, “adopted mother” to the Weller girls, and friend. She was the most selfless person and could be counted on whenever anyone needed help. Sharon’s family was her top priority in life, and she lived for family get-togethers, especially the annual family camp out for her birthday. She enjoyed bird watching, sturgeon fishing, gardening with Bernard, canning strawberry jams and coloring in her later years. Sharon loved spending time at home and watching the sunsets over Lake Winnebago as well as her Saturday mornings spent shopping with Pam. She was an avid Packer fan and loved going to the games with Bernard. She loved the Brewers and rarely missed watching a game.

Sharon will be forever missed and remembered by her daughter, Pam (Scott) Ohlrich and son Bernie Karls (Dawn Merz); three grandchildren, Bernie “Bud” Karls (Brianna Larkee), and Brandon and Melissa Ohlrich; one step-granddaughter, Ashley Ohlrich; one great-grandson, Spencer Karls; unofficial daughters, Lindsay (Clance) Catlin and Michelle “Shelly” (Brad) Koenigs; and her unofficial grandchildren, Camden, Graysen and Jack Catlin, and Ella and Raymond Koenigs. She is further survived by two sisters, Bobbie (Lawrence) Seyfert and Jeri Hickey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Luedtke and Charlotte Schultz; husband, Bernard; an infant daughter, Kathryn; stepfather, Doc Schultz; stepmother, Louise Luedtke; and a sister, Shirley Schmidt.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow, beginning at 5:00 PM. Cremation will follow the service with burial to be held at a later date.

We would like to thank all of Sharon’s many home health caregivers, especially Dawn (Lulu) for all your time and compassion. Without you, Sharon would not have been able to stay at home as long as she did. In addition, we’d like to thank the nurses and staff at Villa Loretto, and the SSM Health Hospice team.
