Sherry Anne Belling

Sherry Anne Belling, 85, a long-time resident of Edenbrook Nursing Home, Fond du Lac, went to join her husband Garland “Jack” and the Lord in Heaven on Friday, June 10, 2022. She passed away peacefully at St. Agnes Hospital after battling multiple long-term illnesses.

Sherry was born on the family farm in the Town of Utica on August 28th, 1936. She was the older of two daughters of the late Fredrick and Lucille (Steinert) Messerschmidt. On August 27, 1960, Sherry was united in marriage to Garland Belling at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale. She joked she was married on the 27th and aged overnight.

Sherry was a mother, grandmother, and worked in sales for a number of companies. She had a keen interest in politics and was always open for a good debate. She had a nice sense of humor, sometimes surprising people with her jokes. Her memory for numbers was unbelievable.

Sherry was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church for almost 60 years. She loved her family and was very proud of her four granddaughters. When the girls were young, Sherry and Jack would help “shuttle” the girls to school and their many activities. As babysitters, Grandma would tell the girls to “open the hangar” as she fed them. As Sherry aged she enjoyed conversations with all, but especially her immediate family; always ending the conversation by saying “I love you” and “be great”.

Sherry is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Greg and Rita Belling of Fond du Lac, her granddaughters: Emily, Erin, Elyssa, and Erica Belling; a sister Karen Crook of Markesan, two sisters-in-law: Shirley Wellhoefer and Audrey Belling, both of Mayville, and a brother-in-law Gordon (Betty Jane) Belling of the Town of Lomira, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by husband, Jack, her in-laws, Edwin and Ida Belling, her brothers-in-law: Roy Crook, Wilmer Wellhoefer and Fremont Belling.
