Shirley L. Gehrke
Shirley Lorraine Gehrke, 82, passed away at home on
February 24, 2017. She was born on February 1, 1935 in Chicago, IL, a daughter
of Frank and Lucille (Lichamer) May. She graduated from Roosevelt High School
in Chicago, IL.
Shirley had a career in keypunching at Weiboldts and
Skill and retired as a floral buyer for Topco. Following retirement, she moved
to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Shirley was a wonderful mother and a friend to her
children and a caring and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren. She was also
a giving and charitable person.
Shirley is survived by three children Michael (Jung
A.) Gehrke, Dorie (David) Howell and Jeffrey Gehrke, seven grandchildren,
Jennifer, Leighanne, Andrew, Brandon, Mathew, Justin and Nathan and four great
grandchildren, Brylee, Lucas, Asher and Quinn. She is further survived by close
family friends Kim Christianson, Edie, Pat
Gerino and Lori Pitt, close neighbors Pat Jones and Josie Priepke, high school
classmate and life-long friend Rosemary a sister-in-law Shirley May, and other
relatives and friends.
Shirley was preceded by two brothers Richard
(Marlene) and Robert May and a sister Linda Massarelli.
Visitation: Shirley’s family will greet relatives
and friends at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, on
Tuesday, February 28th, 2017 from 5:00 to 6:45 PM.
Services: A celebration of Shirley’s life will
follow visitation on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service
will be held on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery,
686 Fond du Lac Ave., in Fond du Lac.
