Sister Ronald (Imelda Amelia) Meis

Sister Ronald (Imelda Amelia) Meis died peacefully February 2, 2013, at Nazareth Center where she resided since June 2012.

Imelda was born in Severin, Kansas, on August 12, 1936, to Edmund and Amelia Miller Meis. She entered St. Agnes Convent, Fond du Lac, in 1950 and made first profession of vows in the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes, with the religious name Sister Ronald, on August 15, 1955.  Sister Ronald dedicated her life as a homemaker among the Sisters of St. Agnes, and in institutions where they served, throughout her religious life.  She earned her Cook Supervision Certificate in 1987 at Madison, WI, and also attended Marian College for scripture study in that year. During 1981, Sister Ronald received a certificate in Performance Planning Review from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, and was certified as a dietary aide by M.P.T.I. in Fond du Lac, WI.  In 1988, she attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison for Nutritional Care of the Elderly and the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee for Group Publishing Seminars.

Sister Ronald’s ministry as a cook and homemaker included assignments to: St. Patrick, Hudson, WI, 1955; St. Joseph Orphanage, Assinins, Michigan, 1955-1956; Brother Dutton, Beloit, WI, 1956-1957; St. Mary, Ellis, KS, 1957-1958; Beloit Catholic High School, Beloit, WI, 1959-1960 and 1963-1964; St. Mary, Oshkosh, WI, 1960-1962; Most Precious Blood, New London, WI,  1966-1968; Nazareth Heights Infirmary, Fond du Lac, 1968-1969; and St. Mary Springs High School, Fond du Lac, WI, 1964-1966, 1969-1977. Other ministries included: housekeeping at St. Mary Springs, 1958-1959; dietary supervision, and later purchasing, at Nazareth Heights Infirmary, 1977-1998; and parental care in Hays, Kansas, 1998-2005.

Preceding Sister Ronald in death were: her parents Edmund and Amelia Meis; three brothers, Robert, Earnest, and Herbert Meis.

She is survived by: two brothers, Paul and Harold Meis; one sister-in-law Pauline Meis; and the Sisters of St. Agnes with whom she lived, prayed, and ministered.

Services: A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 2:00 PM., at St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street, Fond du Lac. The presider will be Father Ken Smits, Capuchin; burial will be at St. Joseph Springs Cemetery, Fond du Lac.
