Stella Bartolomeo

Stella Bartolomeo, 93, went home to the Lord on Sunday, October 21, 2012, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.  She was born October 14, 1919 in Lorain, Ohio, the daughter of Stanley and Mary Fronczak.  She spent most of her early life in Gary, Indiana. 

She graduated from Lew Wallace High School where she met the love of her life C. Roy Bartolomeo.  They were married August 8, 1942 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Gary, Indiana. 

She worked in the credit department at Sears and later at the Bank of Indiana retiring at age 67.  During their 45 years together Stella and Roy enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and throughout Europe. 

After her husband’s sudden death in 1988, Stella moved to Fond du Lac.  She volunteered at Agnesian’s Act II resale shop and in the shampoo room at St. Agnes Hospital, and helped out at the Galloway House.  She renewed her love of golf, joined Daughters of Isabella, was active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed making many new friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Mary Fronczak, her brothers Raymond, Thomas, and Walter Fronczak, and her husband C. Roy Bartolomeo. 

Stella is survived by her daughter Robin (Dr. Robert Jr.) Schuster of Fond du Lac, and grandchildren Rob III (Jennifer) Schuster, Bart Schuster, Scott (Amy) Schuster, and Robin-Nicole (Neil) Gaertig and her son Thomas (Jamie) Bartolomeo and grandson Colin of Lakewood, Colorado.  She took great joy in her 10 great grandchildren Robert Joseph IV, Amanda, Reed, Ava, Ella, and Julia Schuster and Victoria, Brendan, Scarlett, Holly Gaertig, other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Stella’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 9:00 until 10:15 AM at St. Mary Church, 50 E. Merrill Street, Fond du Lac.

Services:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church (Holy Family Parish) at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 24, 2012.  Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary IN, on Thursday. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.  Her family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home for the compassionate care she received.
