Thomas J. Laughrin

Thomas J. “Tom” Laughrin, age 76, of Hilbert, died on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.  He was born July 28, 1945, in Milwaukee, son of the late Leo “Red” & Mildred “Millie” (Dohr) Laughrin.

Tom honorably served in the United States Navy until his Honorable Discharge.

Following his discharge, Tom was instrumental in creating mobile imaging in Northeast Wisconsin.

He later started the operation of Bellevue Liquor store that took a life of its own and eventually ran the bowling alley in Hilbert known as Tommy’s Village Lanes.

Community minded, Tom was proud to serve on the Calumet County Board. Tom’s next chapter included being a “snowbird” with his best friend Jane in Florida where he enjoyed swimming, golfing, and supplying weather reports back to his family in Wisconsin.

He was a man who enjoyed simple pleasures, like watching the Green Bay Packers, cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers and golfing at Hickory Hills. Tom loved fishing in Canada and looked forward to making the trip each year with his friends.  He always loved telling a great story or a bad joke to anyone who would listen. He’d occasionally find himself in a bit of trouble… that was Tom!

Survivors include his life partner: Jane Rentmeester; children: Shea (Dennis) Greil, John (Kelly) Laughrin; 2 grandchildren: Cooper & Max Greil; his siblings:  Susan Laughrin and Patricia (Scott) DeBrauwere; and his canine companion: Buddy.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
