Thomas W. Grebe

Taycheedah resident, Thomas William Grebe, 86, died Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Hospice Home of Hope after a protracted bout with cancer.  He was born June 13, 1934 in Fond du Lac to Joseph T. and Caroline Briester Grebe.  Mr. Grebe was educated at St. Mary’s Springs Academy, Class of 1951, and at Marquette University where he earned an MBA degree.  A CPA, he was employed by Giddings & Lewis, Inc 39 years before retiring in 1994 as Tax Director.  Active in Boy Scouting from 1944 to 1999, Grebe held various leader positions.  Well known in boating circles, he was a past officer of the Fond du Lac Yacht Club, Sailing Club, Ice Yachters, and Coast Guard Auxiliary.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Thomas married Margaret M. Aigner at St. Mary Church on July 2, 1960.  He is survived by his wife and five children, Daniel (Meri Shamrock) Grebe of St. Peter, Susan (Michael Hehir) Goodwin of rural South Carolina, Carol (Kirt) Soukup of Middleton, Linda (Lenard) Hendricks of Lodi, and Ann (Paul) Downham of Minneapolis.  Also left behind are nine grandchildren; two step grandsons; five great grandchildren; three step great granddaughters; two brothers, Richard Grebe of Fond du Lac and Edward (Callista) Grebe of Elm Grove; sister-in-law, Lari Grebe; brothers-in-law, Arthur (Cathy) Aigner and David (Lorna) Aigner; numerous beloved nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and two brothers.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at Holy Family Church.  Relatives and friends are encouraged to view the funeral mass on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 10:30 AM via Facebook live (https://www.facebook.com/HolyFamilyFdL).  Private burial will be held in St. Charles Cemetery.  A Celebration of Thomas’ life will be held late summer on a date to be determined.
