Valeria Pingel

Valeria Ann “Val” Pingel, age 79 of Chilton died on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at her Home in Chilton.  She was born April 5, 1942 in the Town of New Holstein, daughter of the late Gilbert & Veronica (Karls) Anhalt.  

Val was a proud graduate of New Holstein High School, Class of 1961 and later married Raymond H. Pingel on August 1, 1964 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein; he preceded her in death on February 14, 2017.  

Val worked for Mirro Foley in Chilton until the plant was closed and she settled into retirement.  It was at that time she really began to cherish the moments sitting on the back porch of her house and volunteered countless hours with the Aging and Disability Resource Center escorting people from place to place with her own vehicle.  

As a woman who loved to do crafts and work with her hands, Val took an exceptional amount of time and detail, crocheting and quilting.  She was especially well known for her skills as a quilter and her family, especially her grandchildren, will treasure the creations made by their grandmother’s hands.

Survivors include her children: Chris Pingel and his special friend, Tina DeBauche, Tina Malloy & her special friend, Ray Springer, Bill (Michelle) Pingel, Cindy (Josh) Schuler; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her siblings and in-laws: Leo (Elaine) Anhalt, Sylveria (Gerry) Krebsbach, Wilfred “Fritz” (Arlene) Anhalt, Ed Anhalt, Robert Anhalt, Rosemary (Glenn) Lindstrom, Gloria (Phillip) Endries, Jim (Vicki) Anhalt, MaryLou (Orville) Behnke, Joe Anhalt, Richard (Jean) Anhalt, Luella (Tom) Bender, Michael (Teresa) Anhalt, Linda Steege, Jim (Chris) Pingel; very dear friends: Larry & Vicki Schroeder; and her beloved canine companion: Cocoa.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; her brothers: John Anhalt, Orville (Delores) Anhalt; and her other in-laws: Clara Anhalt, Nina Anhalt.  

Funeral service will be at 3:30 pm on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton.  Burial will take place at the Charlestown Union Cemetery.  A time of visitation will take place at the Wieting Family Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 25, 2021.
