Valeria Straub

Valeria (Eilbes) Straub, 94, of Campbellsport, WI died on Saturday, December 19, 2020. Valeria was born on June 18, 1926 to Magdalena (Feucht) and Henry Eilbes in the township of LeRoy, WI. She and her 12 siblings grew up on a farm bordering the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge which she cherished and spoke of often. She went to a one-room school house through the 8th grade. It was wonderful listening to the many stories she shared of walking through the
snow to get to school. On August 10, 1946, Valeria married Alvin Straub at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Leroy. They raised their family of twelve (six girls and six boys) on a farm in the Town of Ashford. Valeria enjoyed her flowers, gardening, baking and canning especially her rhubarb jam. Most important to her was the time she spent with her beloved family.

Survivors include her children Kathy Galligan, Ron Straub, Allen (Judy) Straub, Jane (Gary) Batterman, Karen (Dan) Greene, Paul (Mary) Straub, Peter Straub, Carol (Randy) Dahlinger and Cindy (Darrin) Albrecht, daughter-in-law Charlotte Straub, 24 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and her brother, Jerome (Pat) Eilbes. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Valeria was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin, daughter Donna Konitzer, sons Dale and Glen, son-in-law James Galligan, daughter-in-law Sandy Straub and eleven brothers and sisters, Ambrose, Melvin, Alvin, Richard, Edward, Roman, Robert, Colletta, Rosella, Armella, and Grace.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 23rd at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 406 E Main Street Campbellsport, WI. 53010. Rev. Mark Jones will officiate and burial will follow in St. Matthews Cemetery.

Valeria’s family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 23rd at church from 9:00 am until the start of Mass. Masks are required and please be mindful of social distancing.

The family extends a special thank you to the Serenity Villa and St. Agnes Hospital for their special care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Campbellsport EMT’s or St. Matthew Catholic Church.
