Vera M. Zook
Vera Marie Zook, 100, formerly of Peru, IN and Eden passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. She was born in Peru, IN on March 30, 1916, the daughter of the late John Nathan and Salena (Starbuck) Boys.
On Oct. 12, 1940, she married Grant Harper Zook in Peru, IN.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Peru, IN and Tabor United Methodist Church of Eden.
Vera was a 4H member and a 4H leader on both the local and county levels.
She was instrumental in the founding of the Indiana Rural Youth Organization and served as the first County Chairperson and later as the State Vice Chairperson.
Survivors include her son Dr. John (Sheila) Zook, daughter Sharon Smedley, grandchildren Lara (Steve) Rogers, Jason, Bradley, Robert (Tanya), Shane, Michael, Nathan (special friend Shannon), Jeremiah and Salena Zook, great grandchildren McKenzie, Zachary and Jackson Rogers, Jamison, Beverly, Devin and Zander Zook, Angelina Mahloch and Phoenix Van Deurzen, other relatives and friends.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband Grant on March 12, 2004, son-in-law Lawrence Smedley, brother Verl Raymond Boys and sister-in-law Beulah Boys.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 27th at 5:00 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Ave., Fond du Lac.
Rev. Young Tee Lee will officiate and burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru IN with graveside services on Wednesday March 1st at 1:00 PM.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 27th from 3:00 PM until time of services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to the Miami County Historical Society, St Mary Springs High School Music Department, St Agnes Hospice Hope or Shepherd of the Hills Dollars for Scholars.
