Vernon Barnes

Vernon Earl Barnes, 65, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on February 15, 1956 to Willard and Virginia (Mann) Barnes.

Vernon was a man with a heart of gold. He was full of charisma, making people smile with a joke or story. Vernon always made sure his loved ones had what they needed and was ready to help them in any way.  

Vernon loved playing golf with his family. More than anything else, Vernon adored his grandchildren and his grandnieces and grandnephews. In recent years, he especially enjoyed spending time with the littlest of the family, Madelyn and Mack, Aurora and Amelia.

Vernon is survived by a daughter, Mindy Rogers; grandchildren, Regan Marie, Isaiah Cole, Wyet Allen, Madelyn Mae and Mack Landen; loved friend, Tamara Fitzgerald and her sons, Ronald Fitzgerald and Benjamin Trevino; siblings, Georgiana (Michael) Enfelt, Wynard (Betty) Barnes, Roy (Vickie) Barnes, Pauline Barnes and James (Patti) Barnes; sisters-in-law, Ruth Barnes, Sylvia Barnes, Diane Barnes; brother-in-law, Richard Wonder.

He is further survived by beloved nieces and nephews, Michelle O’laire, Marsha Rankin, Matt (Tracy) Marske, Clint Marske, Justin Enfelt, Mike Enfelt; many loved and cherished grandnieces and grandnephews and friends.

Those preceding Vernon in death are his parents, siblings Ed Barnes, Sharon Minnick, Renee Wonder, Willard Barnes, Bruce Barnes, Paul Barnes, Jay Barnes and Cherrie Hall.

SERVICES: Vernon’s family invites relatives and friends for visitation at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac on Saturday, April 17th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. A graveside service will be held by Vernon’s brother, Jim Barnes, at Rienzi Cemetery at 4:30 PM, honoring the Baha’i faith.
