Virginia E. Bittner

Virginia E. Bittner, 97, of Eden died peacefully surrounded by her loving family Sunday Nov. 15, 2015 at home. She was born Sept. 9, 1918 in Johnsburg, WI the daughter of the late Mathias & Catherine Birkholtz Simon. On June 27, 1944 she married Leander Bittner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, WI. Virginia was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Parish, Eden, the church Altar Society and the Empire Social Card Clubs and a former member of St. Michael’s of Dotyville. She enjoyed gardening, her flower beds, playing cards and bingo with her friends. Virginia also loved spending time with her family. 



Survivors include her son James (Lucy) Bittner of Athens, WI and two daughters Ann (Don) Rentmeester of Plymouth and Mary (special friend Larry) Guelig of Eden, 7 grandchildren: Lori (Joe) Isaac, Jim (Sarah) Bittner, Amy (Larry) Donaldson, Matthew Rentmeester, Lee (Becki) Rentmeester, Tammy (Steven) Guelig and Tim (Kristal) Guelig, and 16 great grandchildren, She is further survived by one brother Ervin Simon of Wolf Lake and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Leander, son-in-law Bernie Guelig, 3 brothers: Louis, Leo and Fr. Martin Simon and four sisters: Marie Bleuel, Della Peters, Lavina Schmitz and Rosalia Rieder. 





Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday. Nov. 20, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 Hwy B, Eden. Visitation will be at the church from Noon until 1:30 PM. with burial to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dotyville.
