Virginia Rose Brandel

Virginia Rose Brandel, 88, of Fond du Lac, passed away on October 16, 2013, at St. Agnes Hospital.

Virginia was born September 30, 1925 in Milwaukee, a daughter of Martin and Celia Olewski Wrycza.

Virginia was a graduate of Pulaski High School, Milwaukee, with the class of 1943. On February 5, 1955 she married Arnold Brandel at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Milwaukee. 

She worked for several years at McKesson and Roberts Drug Company, Milwaukee. In the 1960’s and 70’s Virginia was employed by J.C. Penney of Fond du Lac and remained associated with her “Penney’s Group”. Virginia was an active volunteer with the Agnesian Hospice Hope Program, the Fond du Lac Noon Lions Club and the Fond du Lac Senior Center. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and attended St. Mary’s Church often. Virginia enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, reading, swing era music, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamela (James) Sanderson of Santee, CA, John Brandel of Dallas, TX, a great aunt, Frances Wrycza of Milwaukee, a sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Conard) Braunsdorf of Milwaukee, and by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arnold in 1985, one sister, Bernice Mielatz.

Visitation: Visitation will be held on Sunday October 20, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E Division St., Fond du Lac. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Monday from 8:30 AM until 9:15 AM.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday October 21, 2013 at St. Mary’s Church, Holy Family Parish, 50 East Merrill Ave., Fond du Lac. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac.

Memorials in her name may be directed to Agnesian Hospice Hope Program.
