Wallace A. Griem

Wallace A. “Wally” Griem, age 92, of Chilton, died on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Century Ridge in Chilton.  He was born June 28, 1926 in Chilton, son of the late George & Adalia (Horst) Griem.



Wally had a life long passion for music; he played drums in high school, became a member of the Army Band and played in the Little German Band of Chilton.  



Following his graduation from high school, he served his country in the United States Army Air Corps at the end of World War II.  Following his honorable discharge, Wally returned to Chilton and worked for Aluminum Specialty and the Carnation Company.  He later worked at Tecumseh Products until his retirement at the age of 55 at which time he was able to more frequently go fishing.  He also enjoyed listening to Polka music and traveling throughout the area to all of the county fairs in Northeast Wisconsin.  He was an avid reader and focused much of his attention on keeping up to date with all of the political happenings both locally and nationally.  Beyond fishing, Wally also appreciated moments when he could be downhill skiing.  He also had a hand in establishing the skiing hill at Calumet County Park.



Wally was a member of the American Legion Post in Chilton, the Chilton Senior Citizens, and the International Association of Machinists #1259.



Survivors include his nephew: Robert (Sue) Griem, a great niece: Rebecca (Mark) Murphy, and a great-great niece and nephew: Dillon & Madeline.



Wally was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Lawrence (Gladys) Griem and 2 sisters: Charlotte & Beulah Griem.  



Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton.  Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, January 5, 2019.
