Walter E. Schmitz

Walter E. Schmitz a longtime resident of Mt. Calvary went home to the Lord on April 1, 2013, at age 94.  He was a WWII veteran.  For many years he helped manage the family business, the Schmitz Tavern & Community Hall.  He later worked for Arkay Co. and Maryknoll Brothers.  Walter was well known for his “Bratwurst Wagon” at many Fond du Lac County Fairs.  He donated the land for the Catholic Church in Mt. Calvary.

Walter enjoyed life and was particularly interested in watching EWTN (religious channel). He is survived by his sister Viola, many nephews & nieces, other relatives and friends. He was a very pleasant person who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and eight sisters.

Visitation: Relatives and friends may call Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Isadore the Farmer Church, Mt. Calvary, WI.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM in St. Isadore the Farmer Church, Mt. Calvary, WI.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Following services, all are welcome to join for a time of fellowship and lunch at Maximillian’s of Mt. Calvary.
