Wilbert “Bill” DeGuire

Wilbert
“Bill” DeGuire, 78, of Fond du Lac went to his Heavenly Father with his family
at his side on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital in
Milwaukee.  Bill was born in Appleton on
August 31, 1935, a son of Dewey and Catherine (Giesbers) DeGuire.

On September
23, 1967 he married his love, Patricia Bailey, at St. Patrick Catholic Church,
Green Bay.

Bill was a
graduate of Appleton West High School. He served in the United States Air Force
for four years. He was then employed in the Appleton paper industry for a few
years, after which Bill joined the Wisconsin State Patrol where he served for
35 years.  At that time he retired as
Captain, a position he held for many years. 

In his
retirement, Bill enjoyed spending time at the cottage, traveling, managing
investments and loved his time with his precious grandchildren.  Bill had a zest for life, visiting nursing
homes, helping neighbors and reaching out to many in need. 

Bill was a
member of Holy Family Parish and had a deep faith in the Lord.

Bill is
survived by Pat, his loving wife for 46 years; two children, Mary Beth DeGuire
Mueller of Fond du Lac and Dr. Michael (Mylene) DeGere also of Fond du Lac;
grandchildren, Danyelle and Heathar Keenan, Sam, Lauren and Jake DeGere, and
Sophie Mueller; siblings, Rosemary (John) Bandy, David DeGuire and Joyce (Jim)
Arcieri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding
Bill in death are his parents; son, Robert; brothers, Carl and Glenn; sister,
Geneva Dixon.

Visitation: 
Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Zacherl Funeral
Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, on Monday, December 16, 2013 from 9:00
AM until 11:00 AM. 

Service:  At 11:30 AM on Monday, December 16, a Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated in Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth Street
Way, Fond du Lac.  Cremation will take
place after traditional services with burial in Calvary Cemetery. 

Memorials
are preferred, and may be directed to the family.
