Wilbur Peter Koenigs

Wilbur Peter
Koenigs, age 92 of Fond du Lac,
passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Hospice Home of Hope.  He was born of William and Pauline (Durbin)
Koenigs on October 11, 1922.  Wilbur
married Helen K. Bucholtz on July 17, 1948 at St. Mary’s Church in Fond du Lac

Wilbur was
drafted into the United States Army in 1942 and was stationed in Hawaii as an artillery gunner and a certified medic after
the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  He worked at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas
for 5 years.  After his time in Kansas, Wilbur and his family moved back to Wisconsin.  He worked as a pipe fitter for 50 years and
then at the Fond du Lac
Health Care
Center
for 16 years.  Wilbur was an avid Sheepshead player and
enjoyed golfing.

Wilbur is
survived by his wife, Helen, two sons, Charles Koenigs of Sarasota, FL and
Thomas (Jill) Koenigs of Columbia, SC, and one daughter, Amy Kuerschner of
Neenah, six grandchildren, Amanda and Michael Schultz, Morgan and Jack
Kuerschner, Mary Devall and Maddie Koenigs, three sisters, Mildred Corey,
Evelyn Krug and Estelle Mayer, one sister-in-law Marilyn Rust, one
brother-in-law Bill Bucholtz, one special fur friend, Abby, and many friends.

Wilbur was preceded
in death by his parents and one daughter, Kathryn Koenigs.

Visitation: The
family will welcome relatives and friends on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Holy
Family Catholic Church, 271 4th
Street
Way, Fond
du Lac
, at 4:00 p.m.

Services: A
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 5:00 p.m.  Burial will be at a later date in St. Charles Cemetery.
