Wilford W. Elliott

Wilford W. “Bill” Elliott, age 86 of Chilton, died on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at his home in Chilton.  He was born October 15, 1930 in Bear Valley, Wisconsin, son of the late Chester & Lillian (Keller) Elliott.  

Bill graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1948 where he was a standout boxer and baseball player.  Following his high school days, Bill attended UW Madison, graduating with a double major in accounting and law. Through his working years, Bill worked as an attorney and Certified Public Accountant.  Through those vocations, Bill had the honor of working with the Sokaogon-Chippewa Tribe of Mole Lake as their accountant.  During the Vince Lombardi era, Bill also helped the Green Bay Packer organization, along with many of the players individually including Jerry Kramer.

Bill proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1954, training as a paratrooper and reaching the rank of Sergeant.  

Bill contributed a lot of his time to community activities throughout his life.  He was a member of Kiwanis for 55 years, receiving the Legion of Honor, and was a 53 year member of the American Legion.  He also worked with the Boy Scouts of America and spent several years at summer camp with the boys.  

In his free time, Bill enjoyed spending time at his cabin up north, working with his hands to build and remodel homes, and reading his favorite book, the US Master Tax Guide.

Bill always lived life to it’s fullest and embraced with joy all that it had to offer.  

Survivors include his wife: Charlotte; his children: Gregory (Mary Catherine) Janice (Paul) Halbach, Scott (Kimberly) Elliott, Gary Elliott, David (LaToya); a step-daughter: Cheri Robertson; grandchildren: Elisabeth Elliott, Dominic & Roger Halbach, Jennifer & William Elliott, Noah & Maya Elliott, Melissa Elliott & Brian Wright; his great grandchildren: Lucas Halbach, Asher & Nyle Elliott; and his brother: Bruce (Joan) Elliott.  Bill is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents: Chester & Lillian; his son: Douglas; his step-son: Richard; his brothers: Willis, Dennis, Harold, Floyd, Leo, & Chester; and his sister: Hilda.

Private family services and military rites are being held.
