William “Bill” Nielsen

William
“Bill” Nielsen, 70, of Malone, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at St.
Agnes Hospital with family by his side. He was born on August 23, 1946 to James
and Mary (Eddings) Nielsen.


He was
united in holy matrimony to Cynthia (Cindy) Dierks on July 22, 1989 at First
Luther Church in St. Peter, Minnesota.  


After
graduating from High School, he joined the US Army where he served for four years.
After 
being honorably discharged from the Army, Bill attended the Wisconsin
Police Academy where he graduated at the top of his class. Bill then began
working for the Wisconsin State Patrol for many years. He later took a job at
UW Parkside, where he worked in security until he retired.  


Bill was a
loving husband, father of four children and grandfather of five. Bill had a
passion for his pigeons and was a dedicated member of the Fond du Lac Racing Pigeon
Club. Two years ago, he gained a dedicated side-kick, his Doberman, Axel. 


Bill is
survived by his wife, Cindy Nielsen; his daughters, Erin (Nielsen) Yates and
Katelyn Nielsen; his sons, Erik Nielsen and Matthew Nielsen and his
grandchildren, Jessica Meronek, Erik Nielsen Jr., Troy Yates, Grant Yates, and
Derek Tamke. He is further survived by his sister, Linda Gonzales, other
relatives and many friends.


Bill is
preceded in death by his father, James Nielsen and his mother, Mary (Eddings)
Nielsen; his brother, Carl and several relatives.


Services: Bill’s
family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from
3:00 PM to 6:45 PM at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street in Fond du
Lac. A memorial service will take place at 7:00 PM.

The Family extends special thanks to the
entire staff on the ICU floor at St. Agnes Hospital, the Sisters of St. Agnes, his
many friends and Bill’s entire family for all the thoughts and prayers he
received through his illness.
