William D. Olig

William “Bill” D. Olig, 70, of Fond du Lac, died on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at his home.  

He was born on May 7, 1951, in Fond du Lac, the son of Elmer and Teckla M. Wagner Olig.  

He was a graduate of New Holstein High School, Class of 1969.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1969-1972.  On June 8, 1974, he married Ruth A. Schneider, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.

Bill was a City of Fond du Lac Patrol Officer, from June 15, 1972 retiring on May 21, 2003, and at one time served as Officer Friendly.  Bill was a baseball coach, played golf, enjoyed helping his neighbors, and being an overall good guy.   He was an avid Brewer fan and enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers and Wisconsin sports teams.  He was a member of Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie #270.  

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Ruth Olig of Fond du Lac, his children: Claire Olig of Fond du Lac, David (Norah) Olig of Fond du Lac, Tim Olig of Fond du Lac and Nick Olig of Appleton; his grandchildren: Stephanie (Paul) Marchant of Seattle, WA, Justin Vandermolen of Fond du Lac, Kaden Olig of Fond du Lac and Winnie Olig of Fond du Lac; six siblings: Roger Olig of Kiel, Betty Petrie of St. Peter, Gladys Mueller of Taycheedah, MaryAnn (Jim) Goebel of Town of Forest, Jerry (Rose) Olig of Mt. Calvary and Patty (Jerry) Connery of Prairie du Sac, WI and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim Olig.

VISITATION: The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 4:00 PM on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac.

SERVICE: A Service of Remembrance will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory. Cremation will follow the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Mt. Calvary Athletic Club are appreciated.
