Winifred Kuiper

Winifred “Winnie” Kuiper, 100, of Waupun, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

Winnie was born April 25, 1918 in the Netherlands, the daughter of Douwe and Anna Dykman Kuik. On March 25, 1942 she married Clarence Kuiper at First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun. Following their marriage the couple resided in Racine until 1946 at which time they moved to Waupun. Winnie’s family was very important to her. She and Clarence ran the trucking business together for 53 years. She loved baking, cooking, painting, and gardening. She was a beautiful artist and painted landscapes and still life florals in oil. Many of her 432 paintings are scattered throughout many homes, churches, schools, and public places. She loved music, and played piano and organ for 50 years at First Christian Reformed Church. Winnie was a living example of a compassionate and caring person.

She is survived by two sons: Daniel (Cathy) Kuiper of San Diego, CA and Mark (Daphne) Kuiper of Los Gatos, CA; a daughter, Alane Wardell of Fitchburg, WI; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Winnie was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; a son Franklin; two brothers: Ted and Stuart Kuik; and two sisters: Minnie Veenstra and Mary Kuik.

Funeral services for Winnie Kuiper will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun with Al Venhuizen officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Thursday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-6 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
