Omro Man Picks Wrong Time To Test Deputies Patience

A 41-year-old Omro man picked the wrong time to test the patience of Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies. Sheriff’s Lieutenant William Anthes says deputies had pulled over a car for a traffic violation Saturday morning and were conducting field sobriety tests on the driver when a passenger, Ryan Sluga, got out of the vehicle. He was told to get back into the car and complied. A backup deputy was standing near the passenger side door. That’s when Sluga said, “You better get ready.” The deputy saw Sluga reach into his jacket and try and open the door and Sluga stated, “I have a gun.” The deputy opened the door and secured his arm and removed him from the vehicle. Both deputies then handcuffed him. Sluga admitted he wasn’t serious saying he was just testing them. He was taken to the Winnebago County Jail. He was arrested for disorderly conduct. Anthes says Sluga was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
