One Person Arrested Following High-Speed Chase In FDL County

One person has been taken into custody following yet another high-speed chase Wednesday (3/16/2022) in Fond du Lac County.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department deputies and Waupun Police assisted the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department in apprehending a 36-year old male suspect that led Columbia County deputies on a pursuit northbound on Highway 151 through Dodge County and into Fond du Lac County.

Columbia County stopped pursuing at the Fond du Lac County line as a Waupun officer attempted to lay a tire deflation device in the path of the car. It was reported from Columbia County that the driver of the Dodge Magnum being chased was suicidal and said he was going to drive into a bridge at high speed.

A Fond du Lac County officer saw the vehicle continue north on 151, shortly after 10 p.m. and began pursuing with speeds reaching 120 miles per hour.

North of County Highway AS, the driver turned around, and headed south on 151. Columbia County advised Fond du Lac County that the driver was in contact with them over the phone and stated he was heading back to Columbia County to talk with officers.

A new set of tire deflation spikes were placed in the path of the vehicle and the driver came to a stop about a mile south of Highway 49 in Dodge County. A high risk stop was performed and the driver was taken into custody. According to Sheriff’s log reports, charges of Fleeing/eluding officers will be referred.

The male suspect was originally wanted on charges of Domestic Disorderly Conduct and Battery.
