One Person Dead In Dodge County UTV Accident

One person is dead following a late Saturday evening UTV accident. Dodge County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with DNR officials, were called out Saturday night about 11:00 p.m., near Monroe and LaFollette Roads, where 60-year old Otto Abolins of Ashippun was operating an off-road vehicle.

A 9-1-1 call from a passerby alerted authorities of the accident.

Early reports showed Abolins was traveling north on Monroe Rd., when the UTV he was driving left the road and ended up in a ditch. Abolins was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies say he was not wearing a helmet or a seatbelt, and believed alcohol was a factor in the crash.

A dog that was an apparent passenger on the vehicle, was unijured and was released to family members.

Assistance at the scene was provided by the Lebanon Fire Department, Watertown EMS, and the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office.
