Operation Dry Water

If you wouldn’t drink and drive on the highway, you shouldn’t if you are operating a boat either. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Bill Tadych says they are doing boat patrols as part of the Operation Dry Water enforcement campaign this holiday. He says you can have a beer when you’re in a boat, but patrols are likely to stop you if you’re steering the boat with a can of beer in your hand. He suggests having a designated driver just like you would in a car. He says he came across an accident scene in Winnebago County recently where the person operating the boat ran aground and was likely drinking. He says there were serious injuries. He says driving at night on the water after you’ve been drinking also isn’t a good idea especially if you are not familiar with the water way.  He says the DNR is also participating in Operation Dry Water.
