Oshkosh PD Investigating Body Found in Vehicle in Lake Winnebago

Update:

Oshkosh Police say the body found in the car was that of
a 23-year-old man from Manitowoc. The vehicle he was located in that was found
in the water was a red Volkswagen Golf. Manitowoc Police reportedly initiated a
welfare check on the man sometime on Monday. Anyone who had contact with the
man between Sunday to Monday is asked to contact Oshkosh Police Detective

Oshkosh Police are investigating an incident where a body
was found in a vehicle in Lake Winnebago early Tuesday morning. Police were
first notified around six o’clock in the morning of damage to the Bowen Street
Fishing Dock that may have been caused by a vehicle. There was a belief that the
vehicle had gone into the lake. After an initial search from the Oshkosh Fire
Department, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Dive Team responded and utilizing
sonar the vehicle was located in the water, and a deceased person was found
inside. An autopsy is being performed by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s
Office today. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. The police
department is asking anyone with information about the incident to call them at
