Oshkosh Police Officers Injured

Three Oshkosh Police Officers, a 24 year-veteran Oshkosh Police Sergeant, a 32 year-veteran Officer and a 17 year-veteran Officer , were injured after they attempted to take a 22 year-old male from Milwaukee into custody on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at about 2PM. 

The Oshkosh Police Department was dispatched to a for a noise complaint coming from one of the apartments in the 1100 block of W. New York Ave at 1:37PM on Saturday, February 15, 2014.  As officers arrived, they contacted a 44 year-old male responsible for causing the noise complaint. 

As officers were investigating the noise complaint, a 22 year-old male who was in the apartment gave officers his name and was asking to leave.  A short time later, the 22 year-old male attempted to run from officers.  The Oshkosh Police Officers attempted to stop the 22 year-old and the 22 year-old began to physically fight.  The officers eventually Tased the 22 year-old and took him into custody, but not before a wall was damaged and injuries sustained in the affect of an arrest. 

The male was arrested for two warrants from different WI agencies; Resisting an Officer Causing Injury to Law Enforcement Officers (Felony); Possession of Marijuana; and Bail Jumping.  The 22 year-old male was taken to Aurora Hospital for jail clearance and later transported to the Winnebago County Jail. 

The Sergeant received treatment for his injuries to his upper thigh.  The 32 year veteran received treatment for a neck injury and the 17 year veteran received treatment for injuries to his head, face and left arm/hand.

The 44 year-old male, who the original incident was about, was found not to be in violation of city ordinance and was not cited.
