Oshkosh School District Will Require Face Masks

The Oshkosh School District is the latest to amend its mask-optional plan, and will now require face coverings for all students, staff and visitors inside all school and district buildings.

The policy takes effect August 23 and will be in place until October 1. The optional face masks for students and staff was put in place two weeks ago by the District.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services shows Winnebago County is one of 60 counties where COVID-19 virus activity is high, with almost 312 cases per 100,000 residents and rising.

Of particular concern is the rise in cases in children under the age of 18. There was one case confirmed in that age group between the end of June and July 13, while there were 32 cases reported in the last two weeks.
