Oshkosh Teen in Jail After Making Threat on Social Media

A 17-year-old man from Oshkosh
is in jail after posting a threatening message on social media earlier this
week. Oshkosh Police say a School Resource Officer investigated a complaint
Monday that a student had posted a “selfie” that included a gun pointing at the
camera and a profane caption under the photo. A search warrant was obtained by
police of the student’s home where the gun was found. No weapons were found at
the school. Authorities say the incident had potential to cause disruption at
school, so they took the student into custody. The 17-year-old is being held in
the Winnebago County Jail on charges of Threatening Injury or Harm with a
Computer Message, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and
Possessing a Dangerous Weapon under the age of 18.
