Oshkosh Utility Scam

Oshkosh Police are looking for a man who has posed as a Water Department or other City Department official three times over the last two months. Each time he claimed that he needed to check something in the person’s basement and asked the resident to accompany him to the basement. The residents that were targeted are elderly and live alone. All three incidents occurred between the hours of 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. In all of the incidents, cash was reported missing after he left. Residents are reminded to request identification from anyone claiming to represent the City of Oshkosh or another entity when those individuals are requesting to enter the resident’s home for any reason.
