Other Side Of Duplex In House Explosion Will Have To Come Down

An explosion that destroyed half of a duplex in Fond du Lac early Thursday morning also heavily damaged the other half. The Division Chief of Fire Prevention for the Fond du Lac Fire Department says the explosion at 352 Twilight Trail in the Eastwind Villas Complex heavily damaged both garages and destroyed the south condo. Troy Haase says the north side condo is also in bad shape. He says it’s settling, the walls were blown out and the roof is settling. He says the remaining structure will be taken down. A woman living in a neighboring home suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Agnes Hospital where she was treated and released. Haase says about a half dozen nearby homes were evacuated and the Red Cross was brought in to provide food and drink. He says the basement of the destroyed condo filled with water after a small fire was put out, which investigators need to get into for their investigation into the cause of fire. He says it’s fortunate no one was living in the condos at the time of the explosion. Photo courtesy of Ryan Plummer.
