Outgoing FDL City Council President Sam Meyer Honored

Sam Meyer chaired his last meeting as Fond du Lac City Council President last night. He chose not to run for reelection and tried to make a hasty retreat before the adjournment of last night’s meeting, but was called on by Council Vice President Lee Ann Lorrigan to be honored for his time on the Council. She told the gathering he set a good example by the way he handled even the most controversial issues that went before the Council. She said he always handled them with grace and dignity. City Manager Joe Moore noted some of the accomplishments in the downtown during Meyer’s two years on the Council. He says they have included working on Marian’s conversion of the Nielsen Building, the Retlaw Theatre redevelopment, setting up a TID for redevelopment of the former Cool Beans & Bagels Building, purchasing the building next to the Library, relocation of the Farmer’s Market downtown, loans to FCEDC for the 3 Guys and a Grill and Green Dragon Restaurant projects and sidewalk and lighting improvements for Sheboygan Street.
