Owl’s Well That Ends Well In Ripon

When it comes to protecting and serving the Ripon Police Department apparently extends that courtesy to feathered friends as well. Police Captain Bill Wallner says someone last Sunday afternoon brought in an owl they had wrapped in a coat after finding it laying in the street. He says bird rehabilitator Eric Rattering of the Green Lake area examined the bird for them and found no broken bones or wings. It had been stunned after being struck by a vehicle. Wallner says they were happy to help the bird out, but people shouldn’t be picking up wild animals on the street. He says there have been other occasions where residents have brought in injured wild birds. Rattering was expected to release the dazed owl back into the wild within a few days.
