Parking Restrictions Removed On Arndt And Fifteenth Streets

The Fond du Lac City Council last night approved ordinances that would allow parking on both sides of the street on Arndt and 15th Streets. Both streets were widened last year to 32 feet the standard width of a street in the City. But City resident Mike Schwandt took exception to removing the parking restriction on the south side of 15th Street saying he has a small truck and when trucks are parked on both sides of the street there’s barely enough room for him to get through. City Engineer Paul DeVries says the street is now the standard width. The Council unanimously approved removing the parking restriction on the south side of Arndt Street, but the vote was 4 to 2 to remove the restriction for 15th Street. Council President Sam Meyer voted against removing the restriction. He says he can see both sides of the argument, but he’s heard from residents who live on 15th Street who didn’t want the restriction lifted.
