Patriots Edge Fondy Boys
Appleton East edged the Fond du Lac boys basketball team 33-32 on Tuesday night at the Acuity Fieldhouse. Fondy led 8-6 at the end of the first quarter and then the offense went in the tank. The Cardinals scored just 1 point in the 2nd quarter on a Brian Luteyn free throw and trailed 14-9 at the half. The 3rd quarter wasn’t much better for Fond du Lac on the offensive end as they were outscored 5-2 and trailed 19-11 heading to the 4th.. Max Schebel scored 10 of his game high 14 points in the 4th quarter as the Cardinals looked to force OT. A late Tyler Kryzanowski three point attempt to tie fells short and a Collin Pickart lay-up on the rebound left Fondy 1 point short. Brian Luteyn had 8, Kryzanowski and Joe Schorse scored 3 while Pickart and Logan Wendt had 2 each to round out the Cardinal scorebook. The loss drops Fond du Lac to 8-6 overall and 6-6 in the FVA.
