Pilot Suffers Minor Injuries in Plane Crash in Town of Ripon

One person suffered minor injuries after an airplane had a mechanical issue and crashed into a field in the Town of Ripon Thursday afternoon.

Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Town of Ripon Police Department, Ripon Fire and Ripon Ambulance responded to the scene on Locust Road around 12:19 PM.

Investigators say a 40-year-old man from Indiana was flying a 1933 Stinson single engine plane to EAA in Oshkosh when it experienced a mechanical issue with fuel. The pilot was attempting to land the plane in the field when the front tires dug into the mud, causing the airplane to flip one time and land on its roof.

The pilot was treated on scene for his injuries and released. Three passengers – an 11-year-old female, an 18-year-old male and a 20-year-old male – all from Indiana, were not injured in the crash.

The FAA along with Town of Ripon Police are investigating the crash.
