Pilots in Unplanned Lambeau Flyover Within Rights

A Navy investigation into an unplanned flyover
during a Green Bay Packers preseason game has concluded that the pilots did
nothing wrong. During the August 16th contest at Lambeau Field, two
MH-60R Seahawk helicopters made an appearance just moments after an early
touchdown.

Both the Packers organization and Green Bay Police were caught off
guard by that appearance. Concern was raised due to the restricted airspace
surrounding the stadium during the event, but a Navy investigation finds the
pilots were within their rights.

Investigators say the crew did not violate any
FAA regulations or military operating instructions – and that they followed an
approved flight profile and received explicit permission from the control
tower.
