Plane Makes Emergency Landing Near Columbus Area

Four people avoided injury when a plane made an emergency landing in the Columbus area Sunday afternoon. Dodge County Sheriff’s officials say they took a report from the Dane County Sheriff’s Department at 1:44 p.m. that a plane had made an emergency landing in that area. Shortly after calls were received from the plane as well. It had landed in a field in the general area of Canary Road and County Highway G in the Town of Beaver Dam, two miles south of the City of Beaver Dam. No injuries were reported. Preliminary information is that the aircraft had a problem with a fuel switch-over and the plane ran out of fuel. The plane is a Piper Archer, low-wing, fixed-wing aircraft.  Names were not released.
