Play Written By UW-FDL Professor Featured In International Festival

A play written by UW-Fond du Lac Professor Richard Gustin will be a part of The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC) Aug. 14-30 in New York City.

“Being Seen” is one of five original works created by Gustin and the play will have its world premiere at the festival. Performance dates for “Being Seen” are Aug. 17-22 at FringeNYC Venue # 12, 64E4 Underground in the East Village, 64 E. 4th St., New York City. Tickets and show times are available online at www.fringenyc.org.

FringeNYC, a production of The Present Company, is the largest multi-arts festival in North America with more than 120 companies from around the world performing for 16 days in 20 venues.

“I’m excited to see how ‘Being Seen’ plays to New York audiences,” said Gustin. “FringeNYC is one of the hottest venues in the world to have your work produced. I have two phenomenal actors – Broadway actor, William Youmans and New York actress, Allison Minick under the direction of Broadway veteran, Mindy Cooper. I couldn’t be more excited and I am extremely honored to be accepted into the festival.”

Gustin is part of the communications and theater arts department at UW-Fond du Lac and directs two productions each year in the Prairie Theater in addition to teaching speech and acting courses. He has numerous professional acting and directing credits. Another of his plays, “A Sparrow Falls,” was recently premiered at UW-Fond du Lac.

“FringeNYC presents my play, but I am responsible for producing it,” said Gustin who says this also includes funding the production and all aspects of getting a show from the pages of a script to the stage. He has created the website www.beingseentheplay.com.
