Plumer Wins Special Election for 42nd Assembly District

Republican
John Plumer won Tuesday’s special election for the 42nd State
Assembly District, defeating Democrat Ann Groves-Lloyd and Independent
candidate Gene Rubinstein. The seat was vacated by former State Representative
Keith Ripp, who resigned to serve in the state Department of Ag, Trade and
Consumer Protection. Plumer received 53% of the vote, with just over 5,700
ballots cast for him. Groves-Lloyd received 45% of the vote, with just over
4,800 ballots cast. Rubinstein got two percent of the vote. Fond du Lac County
voters in the Brandon,
Fairwater, Alto and Metomen areas gave Plumer 77% of the vote with 318 out of
410 ballots cast for him. Groves-Lloyd received 91 votes, while one ballot was
cast for Rubinstein in the county. Plumer will serve the rest of the year in
the seat – which is on the ballot again in the fall.
