Police Memorial Ceremony In FDL Today

The City of Fond du Lac will host its annual National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Ceremony at Hamilton Park this afternoon at 1 p.m. The ceremony is open to the public. It will be at the Police and Fire Memorial in the park. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says in the case of the Fond du Lac Memorial the four listed on it were all shot and killed in the line of duty. The first two are Officer William Prinslow who was killed in November of 1898 and Officer Nick Klaske in October of 1961. The other two are Officer Craig Birkholz and State Trooper Trevor Casper. Officer Birkholz was killed in a standoff in March of 2011 and Trooper Casper in a shootout with a bank robbery suspect in March of 2015.
