Police Negotiate Suicidal Man from Ledge of I-41 Overpass

Fond du Lac Police responded to the intersection of Johnson Street and Pioneer Road for the report of a suicidal male displaying a knife Saturday morning. Around 9:42am, officers arrived on scene – where the man waved the knife at them and told them to kill him. Officers then used a non-lethal option to control the man, but it was ineffective.
He then ran west on Johnson Street and climbed around a fence – and ended up standing on a ledge and hanging onto the fence above traffic on Interstate 41. The State Patrol and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office helped divert traffic from the area for about ten minutes while officers negotiated with the man.
The incident was resolved peacefully and nobody was hurt. The suspect is in custody and is seeking treatment.
