Potential Water Rescue Turns Out To Be False Alarm

What was originally called in as a potential water rescue Monday turned out to be two kids having some fun on a summer afternoon.

The FDL County Sheriff’s Office received a call just before 4:25 p.m. Monday afternoon, with a report of what appeared to be two people in the water and unable to get back onto their boat. The location was roughly 3 miles north of the lighthouse.

When deputies arrived, they found two males, ages 12 and 14, who had been out fishing in a paddle boat, and since they weren’t catching any fish, they decided to go for a swim. Both boys were wearing life jackts. Sheriff’s logs reported there were no further issues.
