Power Will Stay On During “Dark Sky”

We have been hearing mounting concerns over the upcoming community exercise dubbed as Dark Sky – the preparation for the case of long-term mass power outages. As the training for local local law enforcement, utility workers, and National Guard members takes place here in Fond du Lac County on May 15th, Director of Communications and Emergency Management Bobbi Hicken says “the power outage is a simulation. There is no power outage, we will not be turning off the power as part of the exercise at all.” Hicken says it may be a good idea for citizens to take the time to make plans in case the power did, in fact, go out. She says “a power outage can happen at any time. This is an opportunity for
people to start thinking about it, what if my power did go out?”

Dark Sky will also be held from May 15th thru the 17th in Brown, Calumet, Dane, Milwaukee, Outagamie, and Winnebago counties.
