Preliminary Cause Of Death In FDL River Rescue Hypothermia

The Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the preliminary cause of death for a 57-year-old Fond du Lac man rescued from the Fond du Lac River early Wednesday morning as hypothermia. Toxicology tests are still pending for James C. Pugh, but Fond du Lac Police say foul play is not suspected at this point in their investigation. Pugh was found in the river at the dead end of John Street and was taken to St. Agnes Hospital where he died. His head was above the water when he was pulled out of the river. The time of that rescue call was 2:53 a.m.
