Principles Cost Schraa Seat On JFC

State Representative Michael Schraa says sticking to his principles cost him a seat on the state’s powerful Joint Finance Committee. Schraa, who represents the 53rd State Assembly District, says when you are in a leadership position you are expected to be a team player and he voted against two Republican bills towards the end of the last session. He says all along he has said he wasn’t going to compromise his principles and he wasn’t going to vote for a bill if he didn’t think it was a good bill. He says the Speaker made an example of him and didn’t reappoint him to the committee. He says it will give him more time to concentrate on other legislation.
