Progress Being Made On Waupun School Facilities Improvements

The Waupun School District is making progress on facilities improvements voters authorized during a $36 million referendum a year ago this month. District Superintendent Tonya Olson says groundbreakings were held last spring and now bulldozers can be seen near most of their schools. At the SAGES charter school and Rock River Intermediate School hallways are blocked off so some of the interior work can be done without altering the school calendar. The District has saved hundreds of thousands of dollars by doing some of the work themselves. Olson praises Director of Building and Grounds Mike Bos for making that happen. Bos was involved in the heating, ventilating and air conditioning and roof projects. He also oversaw the building of the concession stand for the track and soccer fields, which former School Board member Roger Schregardus designed. Olson says the money they saved on that work will be used for deferred maintenance projects, which the school board discussed Monday night. ‘
