Project Grill Unveiling Friday In Fond du Lac

It’s not REALLY the official start of the grilling season, until the unveiling of the grills as part of Project Grill.

2022 marks the 14th year of the event, promoted by Envision Greater Fond du Lac, and held Friday, May 6th in the Festival Foods Parking lot.

Project Grill is a hands-on educational program designed to teach high school students about career opportunities within manufacturing and skilled trades in the Fond du Lac area. The grills have been in the making since last fall and the students, along with their sponsor business, have put in countless hours to present their final project. Each grill has been uniquely designed and hand-crafted by the students.

A total of six high schools are participating in this year’s event, featuring Fond du Lac High School, Winnebago Lutheran Academy, North Fond du Lac High School, Central Wisconsin Christian, Laconia High School, and Lomira High School.

Each school teams up with an area manufacturing business partner who dedicates many hours mentoring their teams and sponsoring them. The 2022 business partners include FIVES/Giddings and Lewis, J.F. Ahern, Kondex Corporation, Manowske Welding, Mercury Marine and Mid-States Aluminum.

The event will be held in the Festival Foods parking lot, located on East. Johnson St. in Fond du Lac, and kicks off with judging beginning at 10:00 a.m., and then remainder of the event open to the public beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Marty in the Morning from 107.1 The Bull and KFIZ will Emcee the event.

The Festival Foods Brat Barn will also be in operation during the event, with food and refreshments available for sale.
